Montasio
Montasio is a distinctive Italian table and grating cheese. The colour is straw-yellow and the texture semi-hard with small regular shaped holes. Fresh Montasio – aged at least two months - is soft and delicate while the fully-ripened version is aromatic with a strong but not too sharp taste. Delicious as an appetizer, it makes a flavourful fondue and can be grated over many dishes. Montasio is the key to a famous Italian fried cheese dish called frico.
