Whether it’s holiday parties, school functions or an office get together, I think we can all agree that food takes the centre stage around the holiday season.
Cooking and baking with Tre Stelle Cheese is a big part of our holiday meals. We host Christmas breakfast every year and I incorporate a number of their products into every dish I make for family and friends. Starting with an overnight baked French toast casserole. I use Tre Stelle Mascarpone as a decadent filling between cubes of French bread. The Mascarpone layer can be flavoured with orange or lemon zest, flakes of coconut or even grated chocolate. The combinations are endless! Another dish I make every year is an overnight hash brown casserole. Frozen hash browns are topped with sausage, peppers, beaten eggs and topped with a generous amount of Tre Stelle shredded Cheddar. Both dishes are prepared the night before and baked in the morning allowing more time spent with guests.
One thing I’m really looking forward to this year is hosting a dessert potluck. Hosted later in the evening, everyone invited is asked to bring their favourite dessert or new recipe they’ve been wanting to try out. Try Tre Stelle Mascarpone in a chocolate truffle cake or extra smooth Ricotta is perfect for Cheesecake. You’ll find a number of decadent desserts on the Tre Stelle website.
Don’t forget to take the holiday entertaining outside. Starting in December sleigh rides are offered. This is a great way to spend a winter day! Tobogganing and skating are also favourites of ours. Be sure to bring some hot chocolate with a batch of Ricotta and Raspberry Scones.
Christmas Tree Using Fresh Mozzarella
I have always wanted to create a Christmas tree with fruit and Cheese and what better way to use a Cheese I’ve never tried! Before now, I’ve never had Bocconcini. They’re little balls of fresh Mozzarella made with 100% milk and packed in water. Tre Stelle has a number of options from mini to pre sliced. Try them with salads, sandwiches and pizza. I’ve found them perfect for entertaining this holiday season!
A wreath can easily be made by arranging herbs such as rosemary or thyme in a circle and placing grape tomatoes, green olives, basil and Bocconcini over top.
This one keeps kids busy creating cute little snowmen. Stack Bocconcini or cubes of Cheese using toothpicks to keep the pieces in place. A half grape makes an excellent top hat! Sprinkles or black sesame seeds can be used for eyes, nose and buttons.
